The New York Giants began their franchise history as part of the National League in 1883. They were first known as the New York Gothams. In 1885 they changed thir name to the Giants. In 1958 they relocated to San Francisco. BR Team Page.

There was also a franchise in the 1890 Players League known as the New York Giants.
